Read. Learn. Grow.

Training
The program provides eighteen hours of pre-service Tutor Training in Basic Reading or English as a Second Language for volunteers. These sessions are usually held at the Adult Learning and Technology Center in Waukegan or at the College of Lake County in Grayslake. Tutors are encouraged to attend additional workshops that are offered on an occasional basis.

Tutoring Space, Materials, Computers, and Staff Support

We also provide tutoring space at over twenty-five sites throughout Lake County, up-to-date tutoring materials and student books, an updated computer learning center, as well as staff support for tutors and students. Our staff includes a broad range of educational, program, and reading specialists who are available to provide tutor support, recommendations for materials, and teaching strategies. Click on Contact Us to learn about our resource locations and staff.

Internet Resources

The staff has put together some Internet resources that will provide further support for new and continuing tutors. We hope you will use these websites and let us know if you find something we should add to the list. Refer to Current Tutors/Internet Resources in the Main Menu above. We have also added a section for student information that contains helpful Internet resources for students to use. Please be sure to check out the Student Information page as well.
