Walk for Literacy

This is our major fundraiser. It is held each fall at Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve in Wadsworth (just east of Rt. 41 on Rt. 173). Participants include high school students, tutors, adult learners, staff and community members. Golf Outing

This event includes 9 holes of Best Ball golf and a cook out at Heather Ridge Golf Course. Individuals may sign up for the cookout and raffle only if they are not golfers. Register with Mike Mattson - 847-244-1855 or Joan Wilts - 847-573-9918.


Annual Hula Bowl


Family fun at the Brunswick Lanes Bowling Alley at Lakehurst in Waukegan. Registration includes 3 games of bowling, shoes and pizza. Contact the Adult Learning and Technology Center for details and date - 847-360-8600.


Trunk Sale


Items are collected from tutors, students and staff. Community members may also sell out of the trunks of their cars. This event is held in May at the Adult Learning and Technology Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Individuals who sell are encouraged to donate 50% of their profits to Literacy Volunteers of Lake County. Why trade your vehicle? Donate your car, truck, boat, motorcycle or R.V. - any condition accepted. It will be towed free of charge. All donations are tax deductible. Literacy Volunteers of Lake County is a 501(c) 3 organization and will provide you with a donation letter. Please 847-775-1197 to donate.
